Empress M422 light vehicle

The US Marine Corp used the M422 "Mighty Mite" light vehicle in Vietnam.

This is the Empress Miniatures model.

It is a multi-part white metal kit with a one piece body. I reinforced the front windscreen with a rolled tarpaulin. The bonnet needs a bit of a sanding as it has rather a lot of extraneous texture.
There is a bedroll providing some support to the rear door.

Frostgrave Cultist Sprue

Someone on Lead Adventure Forum had asked about use of the Frostgrave Cultist figures as undead.

Here are the sprues.

Joriff the Necromancer

So, having started my Undead army, I needed a Necromancer to command it.

In Oathmark, skeleton forces need a Spellcaster on the table to maintain them. At the moment, I am building small forces, so a low power necromancer will fit the bill (and not be too heavy on points).

Joriff is built using the Frostgrave Cultist sprue plus some details from the Wizards sprue (the skull for instance).

The figure was undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black followed by Army painter Chaos Red. The hood was painted with Citadel Screamer Pink, the trousers with Citadel "The Fang" blue/grey, gloves with Citadel Steel Legion Drab. The belt was Citadel Rakash Flesh as are the scrolls.
The skull was painted with Army painter Skeleton Bone, the eye sockets were then painted with Humbrol 34 matt white and then Citadel Hexwraith Flame. The potion bottle was painted again with Humbrol white followed by Citadel Aethermatic Blue in a couple of coats. The chains were painted with Citadel Abaddon black and highlighted with Army Painter Stone Golem. Boots were Citadel Catachan Flesh.

CUT! Will you two on the end stop gossiping!

Treasure chests.

Another purchase from the past (possibly Frostgrave related) was the Ainsty Casting Chests pack.

This comprised two large bound chests and two medium bound chests cast in white metal.

They are about an inch long, so needed to be based on 30mm rather than on a 25mm base (or like the treasure selection are moulded with a 25mm base). They were undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black spray.

The wood was painted with one of: Citadel Dryad Bark; Citadel Catachan Flesh; Vallejo Old Wood. They were then washed with Citadel Null Oil and then dry brushed with Citadel Terminatus Stone.

Okay, the photograph of the fourth one was out of focus.

Compare The Ghoul dot Com 2: The Sprues

As previously mentioned, way back when I bought the Frostgrave Undead Encounters bag of Mantic undead sprues from North Star at Salute.

This comprised ten skeletons, four ghouls and three zombies (one skeleton sprue, one zombie sprue and two ghoul sprues).

During a recent archaeological expedition, I found the original zip-lock bag with one Ghoul sprue and one Zombie sprue.

I think I should be able to mix and match the two sprues to add to my Ghoul unit.

Chronohounds

In the Frostgrave supplement "The Perilous Dark" there is a scenario involving Time Crystals and Chronohounds.

Chronohounds have an interesting relationship to time which is fully explained in the scenario.
North Star have a pack of three different hounds in the Frostgrave Bestiary.
They were based on Renedra small oval bases (from the Fireforge Northmen Cavalry set). They were undercoated with Citadel Corax White, then the eyes and mouth were painted with Citadel Screamer Pink. The rest of the figure was then painted with Citadel Contrast Aethermatic Blue for a glowing otherworldly look.

Corporation Exploration Team in Zona Alfa

The Artefacts found in the Zone are much sought after by various interests. Though Scientists may be in the employ of Corporations, they have to deal with the local teams of negotiable loyalty. Though this provides a degree of deniability, there are questions about their reliability.

Some Corporations have started training forces and sending them into the zone. Though most lack the experience of locally recruited teams, they are loyal to their Corporate Masters and any Artefacts found should be returned for analysis.

To ensure their dependence, they are recruited and trained far away, and supplied with plentiful, but not available locally equipment.

A standard Corporation Exploration Team comprises a Squad Leader, a Hardened Second in Command (often with a Grenade Launcher or LMG) and  five riflemen.
Built using Empress Ultramodern US Marines and US Marine Gasmask heads.

I might need to straighten that gun.

Oathmark Goblins

The Oathmark Goblin Infantry box builds thirty Goblins.

The box contains six Goblin sprues and thirty 25mm square bases.
Each sprue has five bodies, five bow arms, five hand weapons and five spears. There are command, banner and musician arms and eleven heads.

This is the first painted goblin.
After undercoating with Citadel Chaos Black, the skin was painted with Citadel The Fang. The clothes were painted with Citadel Screamer Pink, the leggings with Citadel Ragash Flesh, the boots and belt with Citadel Mournfang Brown.

Time Crystals for Frostgrave

I bought The Perilous Dark supplement at the last wargames show I attended (if you remember what they were) in November 2019.

The Perilous Dark was the last supplement for Frostgrave First edition, but is generally compatible with Frostgrave Second Edition.

One of the scenarios involves weirdly glowing crystals. I bought a pack of Crystals (cast in resin) from Bad Squid Games. Originally they were for Malifaux (Rasputina)

They were cleaned up and glued to Renedra 25mm diameter bases. Milliput was used to blend them in, and Woodland Scenics fine ballast glued on top.
