Anvil Industries Martian Orbital Fusileers squad

So having obtained some additional 30mm lipped bases (another thing I did not buy at Salute) I have put together a seven man squad of Martian Orbital Fusileers.

First, the Squad Leader.
Undercoated Citadel Corax White, the visor was painted Vallejo Night Blue, the two soft packs Citadel Steel Legion Drab, the gun Vallejo Black, the coils Citadel Ultramarine blue dry brushed white. The base was painted with Citadel Zandri Dust.

The whole figure was then shaded with Citadel Nuln Oil. It was then dry brushed with Citadel Ceramite White. The gun was repainted black and highlighted with Vallejo Black Grey. The coils were washed with Citadel Asuman  blue. The cloth areas were shaded with Citadel Agrax Earthshade (the soft packs were repainted with Citadel Steel Legion Drab).
The sight lens was Citadel Mephiston Red.

 Trooper 5,

This is the original figure.

Here is the squad.

Deploying from a transport.

An Antenocitis Hunchback APC (without a turret, I want to use an Anvil Industries Tesla Annhilator as the vehicles weapon).

The Rebels

Here are the Rebel team for Rogue Stars.
Psionic Warrior, Heroic Fighter, Dashing Pilot, Reliable Co-Pilot.

The Psionic Warrior in action.

Reliable Co-Pilot

Karl Drax is a reliable man to have beside you in a firefight. He is devoted to Vic, but as a big brother.

Karl Drax from Hasslefree.

Dashing Pilot

Vic is the team's dashing pilot. She is a good shot but a better pilot, assuming her fast reflexes can get her out of any trouble her smart mouth gets her in to.
Though only armed with a Laser Pistol and wearing a Kevlar Jacket, she is an effective fighter.

Pilot Vic from Hasslefree.

Heroic Fighter

Larren Jax, Heroic Fighter.
Armed with his reliable Laser Rifle and the medical knowledge he picked up as a soldier he is a steadfast fighter for the rebellion.

Anvil Industries: Martian Orbital Fusileers - part two

So as mentioned earlier I bought one of Anvil Industries "regiments", the Martian Orbital Fusileers.

Scale photograph showing that it is of comparable scale and build to the Crooked Dice William Killian.
Now this is a prototype build and paint, once I am happy with it, I will build the rest of the squad.

Now, parts of this process were inspired by a paint scheme in the magazine Tabletop Games relating to painting the parts for a board game set in a galaxy far, far away...

So, first, the figure was undercoated with Citadel Corax White spray.  It does lookalike I should have shaken the can a bit more.
Vallejo black was used to block in the gun (avoiding the coils that make up part of the "barrel"), the spare energy core for the gun and the visor.
There are two soft packs on the back pack, they were painted Citadel Steel Legion Drab. The base texture (Woodland Scenics Cinder fine ballast) was painted with Vallejo Desert Yellow (the actual base colour will be Citadel Zandri Dust, but I have not bought that yet)
The energy cores and the coils were then painted with Citadel Ultranarine blue.
Citadel Nuln Oil shade was then applied to all the white areas.

Citadel Agrax Earthshade was applied to the packs.
It really brings out the details.  I did wonder about painting the torus on the back pack blue, but decided that the figure had enough glowy bits already.
The figure was then dry brushed with Citadel Ceratite White.

Where the dry brushing was too heavy on the gun, it was overpainted with Vallejo Black Grey. Additional white dry brushing was applied to the coils and the energy cores. They were then inked with Citadel Gulliman Blue glaze. The material parts of the suit were shaded with Citadel Agrax Earthshade.
The visor received a Gulliman Blue glaze and the lens of the gun sight was painted with Citadel Mephiston Red.
The soft packs received another shade wash with Agrax Earhshade.

For subsequent models, I will repaint the soft packs after dry brushing.

The base needs painting, highlighting and detailing.

Rogue Stars - The Rebels

Rogue Stars is a skirmish war-game from Osprey.

Players field forces of 3 - 6 figures.

I decided to use some of my Hasslefree figures to form a Rebel force.

Dashing pilot, Heroic fighter, Psionic warrior and reliable co-pilot.

Anvil Industries: Martian Orbital Fusileers - part one

Anvil Industries has an extensive range of multi-part heroic scale resin figures.

They can supply a "standard" squad or you can roll your own from an extensive menu.

I bought the Martian Orbital Fusileers set at Salute.

Ten armoured torsos with backpacks, ten armoured legs, eleven pairs of arms, twelve sets of rifles and heads. A fusion gun and backpack provide a heavier weapon if required..
Flash was minor and easy to scrape off. Always a good idea to give them a quick scrub with detergent or mild scourer to remove any remaining release agent.
One great advantage of the resin over metal is the presence of locating lugs and sockets that make assembly easy. The rifle plugs into the right arm.
The figures are supplied with normal 25mm slotted bases, but I decided to use 30mm lipped bases for these science fiction figures.
And for scale, here is William Killian.
Now, I have two nice figures from Hasslefree that will make really good rebels to face them.
