Final crewman figure

So, one of the crew for my Five Parsecs from Home has a religious background, and ended up receiving a shotgun from the weapons rolls.

Originally I was going to use one of the Frostgrave Wizards bodies, but decided that one of the female Wizards II bodies would make a good base. The arms are from the Stargrave Crew II set.

I wanted something different for the head, and noticed that the Great Escape Games Gunfighters II figures had compatible heads.

She is checking the skies for opposing force drones or snipers  on a vantage point.

Pistol armed Cannon Fodder

Another figure for Stargrave/Five Parsecs from Home.

This figure uses the arms from the Wargames Atlantic upgrade sprue and a Stargrave Crew head on a Cannon Fodder body.

This is a very dynamic pose.

Another rifle armed crew member

This is the second of the two crew who originate from the same planet. They both were evacuated with Infantry Laser Rifles which come in handy when the crew need some longer range firepower.

The figure except the head again are from the Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder set. This one has a head from the Ghost Archipelago Sailor sprue.

There is still some filling and details to add.

Another crewman

Two of the crew I rolled up for the Five Parsecs from Home campaign have similar backgrounds, and I rolled up two identical weapons. So I decided that they were from the same world and would be dressed and equipped similarly.

Originally I wondered about using the Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder arms on Stargrave Crew bodies, but decided that I would try a vanilla Cannon Fodder figure but with a Stargrave Crew head.

There is still some filling and detailing to finish, before it joins the paint queue.

Heavy for a Stargrave/Five Parsecs Crew

One of the characters I rolled up for a Five Parsecs From Home campaign is low-tech but armed with a "Shock Axe". So how would I represent that on the table?

I originally thought about using a Barbarian body with a two handed hammer, but thought that was a bit cliched.

I then had a look at the Ghost Archipelago Sailors, and thought one of them would look good.

The arms and the head come from the Barbarians set.

There is still some filling plus adding some details (and a scrap pistol).
I wonder about adding power cells for the hammer on the belt/sash.

Ship's Engineer for Stargrave and Five Parsecs

At SELWG I bought a box of the Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder figures.

They are boiler suit clad and come with a limited selection of weapons (lasguns and a support weapon).

I wondered how compatible they were with the Stargrave plastics (in the same way that the Great Escape Gunslingers are).

This figure is built from a Cannon Fodder body, two of the Stargrave Crew arms, and (inspired by a number of characters from the works of Miyazaki) a head from the Oathmark Human Infantry.
The mounting points for the arms are narrower (the body is slimmer overall than the Stargrave figures) so there isa slight overleapt the back.. The back panel will hide the Greenstuff/Milliput used to smooth the transition.

Stargrave Crew: First Painted Runner

So, way back in May (this year) I had assembled the first block of Stargrave crew members.

Here is the first painted one.

This is a Runner, lightly armoured and armed, they are fast and free. Useful for grabbing loot markers and getting them off the board.

Now to get the rest of the crew assembled and painting.

Great Escape Stargrave Gunslinger

Great Escape Games released their multi-part multi-pose Western Gunslingers in June.

This was at the same time as the release of Stargrave and the plastic figures from North Star.

So here is a combination of the two.

This is the duster coated body with the advancing legs from the Gunslinger set combined with a head, arms and gun from the Stargrave Crew set.
Here he is on set

Now I want to build a Chicago Wizard for hire using the same body.

Stargrave - Pathfinder

One of the Specialist Crew Types is the Pathfinder. They are lightly armoured, equipped with a Carbine, Grenades and a Hand Weapon. They are also as nimble as the Runner.

There is a marked absence of hand Weapons on all three sprues, but I may have an odd Frostgrave sprue or two.

To make this figure standout a bit (and because I wondered if Anvil heads would work), I found the Anvil Jungle Fighters in helmets sprue which despite the name has a Jungle Fighter head just wearing a bandana.

A quick compare showed that they are just about the same, but do have a wider and deeper neck.
The neck socket was drilled out using a 1.5mm drill for the pilot hole and a 3mm drill for the final hole.
The Pathfinder is former military and kept his high-tech Carbine (from the Trooper' sprue). An axe from the Frostgrave Barbarians sprue provided the Hand Weapon. The grenades are from the Mercenaries sprue. The body is the Crew body with the chest plate.
I have filled that gap in the arm.
Ready to lead his Captains forces to the loot.

More Stargrave Crew

Stargrave crew have various costs, Recruits and Runners are free, so with only a limited amount of credits to spend, most starting crews will contain a number of each.

Runners are unarmoured, which means they are not weighed down so can move faster than Recruits.

To give a consistent look, the first three are armed using the revolver arm from the Crew sprue (so from three sprues).

I do need to clear a mould line from the left hand.

This Runner was made using a body from the second Crew sprue.

Recruits are lightly armoured and are again armed with a pistol. This body has a definite chest plate.

And a group shot.

Stargrave Crew - the first build

First figure from the Crew set.

Built as a Runner, one of the two free crew types.

Need to make a better job on that mould line on the arm.

Comparison with an Anvil Industries figure (PMC with Jungle fighter head - unfinished(.

Comparison with William Killian (of course)
And a Classic plastic Space Marine.
