Oathmark Heavy Elf Infantry

North Star have just released their Elf Heavy Infantry for Oathmark.

Five figures per sprue, and six sprues.
Each sprue can build six heavy armoured Elves, all armed with hand weapon and shield or two handed weapon (or a combination of the two) There is also components to build a standard bearer and an officer.

The sprue does not contain enough swords or axes (one or two handed) to build five axe or five sword, you will need to combine parts from separate sprues.

Baron's War Second Edition

Baron's War is a 28mm scale medieval skirmish wargame. The second edition is available as a starter set.

The starter set comes in a larger box and has the rulebook, enough miniatures (hard plastic kits) for two 500 point retinues, fourteen D10s, ten custom morale dice and a charge D6. There is also a set of barricades (more plastic kits) and a getting started guide.
The D10s, custom D6s and the D6 charge die.
It also has 56 Wargames Atlantic bases.
There are two sprues of 13th Century Knights (total of 12 figures)

Three sprues of 13th Century, total of 18 figures.

Four sprues of Levy (24 figures)

One Long weapons sprue for spears and two handed weapons.

There are two each of the two sprues of barricades

A set of counters.

Guards of Traitors Toil

Guards of Traitor's Toll is a new Skirmish level adventure game from Grey for Now.

It is a semi-cooperative game where players control squads of city guards as they patrol the city. They have to apprehend miscreants of various stripes, ensure the citizens do not get to rebellious and deal with sinister plots against the city.

The box contains four sprues of City Folk (making 24 figures) and two sprues of City Guard (making 12 figures). The City Guard is an equal opportunity employer. There are suggested builds for the City Folk, be aware that you will need twenty citizen figures to play the introductory scenario in addition to your guard patrol.

The various cards and special dice, all in a plastic container that will take the counters (see below) when they are removed from the sheet.

Oathmark Human Light Infantry

In March 2024 North Star released the Human Light Infantry for Oathmark.

The box contains four sprues, each of which can build five of any combination of Human Rangers and Human Militia (Light Infantry)
There are five sets of melee weapon and shield and five sets of bows.
The shields are a slightly more tatty version of the shield found in the Human Infantry set.
There are components to build command and standard figures. There some additional weapons and packs.
There are five hooded and five heads in pudding basin helmets, plus five other heads.
All heads are compatible with other Oathmark and Frostgrave human heads and bodies.
Five rangers (awaiting fitting of quivers).

Oathmark Mini-Army

The Human Militia are a lot cheaper than the rank and file Human Soldiers (they are also not as good), so you can a lot more figures. The Rangers, however, are more expensive than the rank and file archers.

For an Oathmark mini-army I have chosen to represent a minor lord's force without either a City Guard (Spears) or his retinue. A trusted captain leads the force.
  • Human Captain
  • Six ranks of Human Militia
  • Two ranks of Human Rangers

Oathmark Goblin Slaves

The most recent North Star release for Oathmark is the Goblin Slaves.

I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed with the naming and background. Oathmark is generally an Equal opportunity game system, so why are the Goblins singled out as a slave owning culture?

The standard box has six sprues, each sprue building five figures. One of the figures is slightly taller than the rest.

The weapon options are various hand weapons, slings, whips plus a standard.
The heads are not generally similar to those of the Goblin Infantry ones - getting a reasonable match is a bit difficult. I have not tried swapping heads yet.
First assembled figure.

They are slighter than the Infantry figures, both due to a more limited diet and the lack of armour.
