The Converted: Command Node

The analysis section had highlighted an increase in missing persons in the area around the pumping station (itself not far from where the pod from The Converted had landed - and supposedly sanitised)

As was standard protocol when dealing with a potential Converted incursion, we were dropped off a distance from the target location and had to approach on foot (to prevent the subversion of the transport and any escape out of the cordon area).

We knew we had the right place when a command node stepped out of the control building and started firing.

The body is from the Scavengers set, the shotgun arms from the Crew set and the head from the Automata set.
The figure was undercoated with Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey.
The greatcoat is Citadel Dryad Bark, the webbing is Citadel Steel Legion Drab.
The skin is Army Painter Spaceship Exterior.
The metalwork is Vallejo Black Grey except the face plate which is Citadel Stone Golem.

Five Parsecs from Home: Tactics - Converted

Another has joined the ranks of The Converted.

It wa only after I finished it that I realised it should have been a Light Machine Gun armed figure.

Five Parsecs from Home: Tactics - more Troopers

More Troopers for Five Parsecs from Home: Tactics.

Weapons Teams have a personal side arm, plus whatever weapon the team has been assigned.

That means you need Troopers armed only with pistols.

This one is neglecting his team duties while dealing with a threat.

I think the arms are from the Mercenaries set.

Other Troopers are also only armed with pistols, such as this medic.
He has a variant helmet from the Mercenaries set (and a nasty mould line I had not noticed) and an arm with an ammo box, also from the Mercenaries set.

You maybe asking why there is no collective shot of these two figures?

Well, for reasons lost in the mists of time, I decided to base my figures for Rogue Stars on 30mm lipped bases. When Stargrave came out, I decided to continue doing so (having a number of figures actually painted and based on 30mm bases).

Unfortunately, I have run out of them at the moment, and, well, the two figures have been base sharing.

Five Parsecs from Home: Tactics - Mini armies

So the first three Converted for Five Parsecs from Home: Tactics

Two built from the parts in the Automatons sprue, and one built with bits from the Scavenger and Crew sprues with an Automaton head.

They face a trooper squad.

Alien Warriors Work In Progress

Scale comparison between William Killian (Crooked Dice) and an Alien Warrior.

Frostgrave Cultists II

So after four odd years, Frostgrave Cults go Co-Ed!

Like the male Frostgrave Cultists, the female Cultists II box contains four identical sprues, each containing five cultist bodies, an assortment of melee and ranged weapons plus components for making female zombies.

The great thing about them is their compatibility with the other Frostgrave and Stargrave figures.
This cultist for Stargrave or Five Parsecs From Home uses one of the cultist bodies with the machine gun arms and a hooded and masked head from the Stargrave Scavengers II set

I now have to build some "out of the box" to reinforce my Necromancer's army.

Aliens: Alien Warriors 2

So, having bought the Five Parsecs From Home Compendium (which contains the stand-alone game Bug Hunt) I had looked around for some suitable Alien opposition.

Having looked at what was available (and having the original Aliens: Alien Warriors box to hand) I thought that the classic Xenomorph would be an option.

Of course, that was only twelve figures, and experience of Space Hulk made me think I would need some more.

The current box contains two of the Alien Warrior sprues and the new Alien 2 sprue.

These are slightly different (the slightness reinforced by the presence of an identifying label on the base) to the general Alien Warrior.

The figures comprise two body halves, each figure has a choice of two different heads.
The arms and tails are interchangeable within the sprue and with the original figures.

Aliens: Alien Warriors

So, a while back I bought three boxes for the Gale Force 9 Aliens game from Wayland's Forge in Birmingham.

One of the boxes was the Alien Warriors box.

There are three identical sprue, each builds four figures. There are two heads each per body and the arms and tails are interchangeable.
There is actually an assembly instruction sheet, which is a surprise in this day and age.
Unfortunately the figures feet are included on the base, which makes changing the base type rather difficult.
I will have to rebase the Ooh Rah figures to match.

Stargrave Scavengers II

North Star has released a new set of multi-part plastic female Scavenger figures for Stargrave (though they are usable in a number of different games).

Like the Scavengers set, the bodies are dressed in long coats or cloaks.
The weapons have a number of cloth bindings, showing their irregular nature.
There are also two sets of Zombie arms and heads.

Another little 'bot

Crooked Dice Robots 2 set includes a diminutive humanoid robot, suitable as a companion or tech support.

A very simple paint job - Army Painter Stone Golem followed by a wash with Citadel Nuln Oil.

Stargrave Scavengers

Recently North Star has released a set of multi-part plastic figures for Stargrave (though they are usable in a number of different games).

Supplied in the normal box, there are four identical sprues building twenty miniatures with bases to match.
The bodies have long coats (dusters?) and the heads have a very mixed appearance. There is only one gas mask heads per sprue.

There are also four "zombie" heads and two pairs of matching arms.

Crooked Dice Bot

In Crooked Dice's Colony-87 range is a 'Bot Trader and two items of merchandise.

This is the first one painted.

This is a small, non-threatening style utility 'bot. It has one full spectrum scanner and a second ultrasound scanner. The 'hands' are coated with a synthetic rubber coating with embedded feedback devices for precise and reliable operation.
The figure was based on a 30mm lipped base to match the other Spacegrave/5PFH figures, the gaps filled with Milliput and a layer of Woodland Scenics fine cinder ballast.
The figure was undercoated with Citadel Corax White spray.
The base was painted with Citadel Zandri Dust.
The ultrasonic scanner and the hands were painted with MIG Rubber and Tyres.
The figure was then washed with Citadel Drakenhof Nightshade.
This might be an objective or just a pice of mobile scenery.
