Barbarian conversion - Frostgrave and Anvil combination.

This Frostgrave Barbarian Archer uses an Anvil Industries Long Hair head.

The neck hole needed widening and Greenstuff has been used to bed the neck in.

Crooked Dice Buggy - Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV)

Crooked Dice released three different Buggies as part of their Post Apocalypse range. I bought one of the rear engine versions for conversion to a Fast Attack Vehicle.

It has been sitting in my vehicle pile for a while, and I have finally started to building it.

There is still the interior to sort out, there are two seats, gear stick and steering wheel add. It will probably get a crew from the Empress Modern British range plus weapons attached to the hull or roll bar.

Plenty still to do.

Pandyman Entertainment - Police Office

Pandyman Entertainment was a new name to me (and is subject to change), and they had a stand at Salute. I picked up their Threat Level: Emergency Response rules and four of their figures.

"Unarmed Police Officer" by Pandyman Entertainment. The description is the official one, but he is armed with a prominent Taser which I would classify as a weapon.

The figures are made from Photopolymer Resin. The details are slightly soft, but I have much worse in white metal.

Scale wise they look okay with Crooked Dice and Empress Moderns.
The Taser and Airwave radio are prominent on the Stabvest.
The handcuffs are obvious from behind.
Compared with an Empress US Marine.
In front of a Crooked Dice land Rover.

Blotz Jolly Boat

The Blotz Jolly Boat is an laser cut MDF model of a Jolly Boat, a type of small boat often used to ferry crews and passengers between ships or to shore.

The kit comprises two small panels.

Three layers on top of a base plate comprise the hull, here stacked one on top of each other.
The boat will take nine figures based on 25mm diameter bases.
This is the assembled model.

The model was undercoated with Halfors grey spray primer. The visible surface was then sprayed with Army Painter Leather brown. The deck was painted with Vallejo Old Wood and the keel, inner frames, tiller and rudder with Army Painter Oak Brown.
The rowlocks were painted with Vallejo Black. The whole boat was dry brushed with Citadel Terminatus Stone. The boat was washed with Citadel Seraphim Shade.

For Carlos

As is shown here, the boat will only take nine figures, which is a bit unfortunate as it will not officially take a two ranks for Oathmark.

Silver Bayonet - scale comparison

In November Osprey Games released The Silver Bayonet, a skirmish game set against Gothic Horrors in the Napoleonic Wars.

There is a selection of figures for the various nations (currently French, English and Spanish with more to come).

The question is what other figure ranges match in terms of size and stature.

The figure on the right is the release special figure, the one on the left is a Wargames Foundry Rifleman.

As you can see from this shot, the Silver Bayonet figure is notably taller.

Here is the full Rifles pack.

Liquor Store - Warbases

At Salute, I planned to buy some Wild West buildings from Sarissa, but they did not have any stock. So I was looking through the Warbases models.

The first building I have started is the Liquor Store model.

Interestingly, there is a number of circular "holes" in the sheets - the company name probably answers the question, I assume that they are bases that have been removed.

The building as supplied will sit "flat" on the surface, but I thought it would look better (and deal with irregular surfaces better) with the base raised using lengths of 4mm square section bass wood.
The outer ones are full length, the middle one is in two parts.
The roof has a noticeable groove where the two panes join, a length of 1.5mm diameter plastic rod was added to smooth that over. Three lengths of single ply tissue paper was then glued to the roof to act as tar paper.

The walls were painted with Vallejo Old Wood, the floor and frames were painted with Army painter Oak Brown.

Additional tidying up is required and it needs weathering.

The Battle of Hue 1968

Osprey have just published The battle of Hue 1968 in their Campaign series.

This will add some more detail to the Tet Offensive book from the 'nineties.

I must list all my Vietnam source books, here is another one I picked up at SELWG.

Salute 2021 - Rubicon purchases

There was (excepting the Semovente) a bit of a theme on my Rubicon purchases

I also bought the other Valentine kit but it was in a different bag so did not get photographed.

I did forget to buy the Sherman V, maybe at the next show.
