Pillage Starter Set

Victrix has just released an introductory set for Pillage, their early middle ages skirmish game. 

It comes in a particularly tall box, partly because Victrix figure sprues are larger than the industry standard (which explains why they do not supply their figure sets in boxes).

The 48 page full colour book covers the basic rules in the form of four scenarios, adding rules as it goes along. There are instructions on how to build the six Irish and eight Viking figures from the options, plus the building, fences and loot. The basics of painting are also covered very briefly.

The Irish sprue, slightly complicated construction with separate legs and cloaks.

It is the same infantry sprue that is in the Irish and Dogs set.

Similarly, the Viking sprue is the Warrior sprue from the Viking set.

Double sided paper mat and a full width print of the cover, slightly spoilt as there are pressure marks on it from the sprues.

Victrix Greek Hoplites.

 I ordered a pack of Victrix Greek Hoplites in the North Star Boxing Day sale, probably for the forthcoming Warriors of Athena skirmish game.

I will need to read up on the various armour types and helmets used by the Greek city states.

Victrix have dispensed with boxes, the eight identical sprues come in a ziplock bag with an instruction sheet (a nice touch)

Victrix Medieval Foot Sergeants

 At Colours I picked up the (at the time) new Medieval Foot Sergeants set from Victrix.

Though historical figures, they will probably do double duty as a human faction for Oathmark as well as for Barons War and Lion Rampant.

As has been the case for a while, the set comes in a bag not a box, but does include an assembly guide.

The figures are wearing gambesons, quilted or padded armour in the form of jackets, some of which is worn over mail. This is typical of well equipped foot soldiers not of nobility.

The set builds 32 figures, there are sufficient polearms, hand weapons and (by utilising standard bearer arms) spears to equip all figures with similar weaponry.

For Oathmark, these will be built with hand weapons and spears (polearms/two handed weapons are not available to non Warrior/Knight types).
