Skirmish In a Box by Perry Miniatures

The Skirmish in a box is a set of 65 multi-part multi-pose plastic 28mm figures from Perry Miniatures.

The set comes in a larger than normal depth box

The box contains one French battalion frame.

One French Infantry command frame

Four French Elite frames

One SPA-70 Spanish infantry frame

There is one Spanish Infantry frame from SPA-80 which I have forgotten to photograph.
One Spanish command frame

Five Guerrilla frames

One Spanish head frame

Oathmark Knight

This figure was built quite a while ago, but not sure when.

Heavy armour and a two handed sword make him suitable as a character or a Linebreaker.

Rubicon Citroen 11CV car

The Rubicon Citroen 11CV is a 1/56 scale multipart kit. It is supplied in a robust cardboard box.

The vehicle is a staple for film and television programs based in occupied Europe (my most recent sightings have been in the Belgian series 'Salamander' and the Spanish series 'El Ministerio del Tiempo')
The parts are cleanly cast with under frame detail (including the exhaust) and require minimal clean up. I washed them with kitchen scouring cream just because that is how I clean all resin kits.

Unlike many resin kits, it is supplied with a full instruction sheet with some background information and a decal sheet (containing both French and German registrations).
It has two sets of head lamps, the original civilian type and a set of black out style lights for military users. I decided to use the civilian lights.
Marshall Zhukov (Rubicon figure) for scale.
Perry Miniatures Kubelwagen for scale.
The Perry Miniatures Kubelwagen is notably smaller than the Bolt Action one..

Perry Miniatures Kubelwagen

As part of the Africa Korp unit, I bought a Perry Miniatures Kubelwagen.

The model is one large resin casting (complete with all four wheels and the spare) plus white metal castings for the two man crew, steering wheel and folded down canopy.

The model is notably smaller than the Warlord Games one (bottom).
I put a rolled up tarpaulin in front of the windscreen and added some green stuff to the canopy.

I undercoated it with Citadel Chaos Black spray, followed up with Citadel Zandri Dust. The tyres were painted with Vallejo Black Grey. The spade blade is Vallejo Black, the handle Citadel Mournfang Brown.

The body was washed with Citadel Agrax Earthshade, the tyres with Citadel Nuln Oil. I missed one of the wheel hubs.
Decals are from the Rubicon SDKFZ 250/253 kit.
The canopy and the tarpaulin were painted with Humbrol 237.

Afrika Korp - part one

Having built a Rubicon Panzer III for the North African campaign, I thought it was time to assemble some Perry Miniatures Africa Korp plastics.

 The corporal in detail.
Undercoat is Citadel Chaos Black followed by Humbrol Desert Tan.
The faded nature of the uniforms means that they have a rather rag tag look. A lot of them have just been shaded with Citadel Agrax Earthshade. Some jackets and trousers have been painted with Citadel Karak Stone and Castlllan Green. The boots are Steel Legion Drab

Once and Future options

Crooked Dice have just released the Once and Future Supplement for their 7th Voyage game (currently as PDF with a printed version out shortly).

This includes three new settings, Beowulf, King Arthur and (topically) Robin Hood.

Now, this gave me the inspiration to dig out some of the plastic box sets I bought a while back (and buy a new one at the weekend).

Beowulf and the sagas are an opportunity to use the Viking and Saxon figures from Gripping Beast (and Wargames Factory) and perhaps the Celts by Warlord Games.
Gripping Beast Saxon and Viking together with a Wargames Factory Saxon.
Bring Me Sunshine...

Warlord Games Celt.

The King Arthur setting (I know he was Dark Ages, but the normal setting is more 14/15th century).
Perry Miniatures do four box sets, Men at Arms, Foot Knights, European mercenaries and Knights.
 Two Men at Arms
Foot Knight (with a Wargames Factory Survivor head).

And finally a comparison shot:

Perry Miniatures Eighth Army comparison

The Perry Miniatures plastic Eighth Army figures are excellent, but are slightly smaller than is now normal for '28mm' figures.
Crooked Dice's William Killan for comparison.
And a Bolt Action BEF figure.
And an SMG armed minion (note he has no base, unlike the other two).

I really need to finish some of these...

The most dangerous weapon in the enemies arsenal is...

... your lieutenant with a map...

First of the Perry Miniatures 8th Army figures.

Very nice they are, though smaller than other 28mm figures.

Hopefully I will paint some more up, and the matching Afrika Korp I got at Colours.

Now to get some matching vehicles.
