Trubia Tank - Spanish Civil War

 The Spanish developed a light tank based on the Renault FT of World War 1.  I built an Empress FT for use in Operation Sealion games. As you can see, they are of similar size (the trench crossing skid extends the length of the FT).

This is a very simple model, one piece hull, a turret and two Lewis Gins (Lewis Guns have a thermal sleeve round the barrel, which always makes them look like larger calibre weapons.

The Converted: Command Node

The analysis section had highlighted an increase in missing persons in the area around the pumping station (itself not far from where the pod from The Converted had landed - and supposedly sanitised)

As was standard protocol when dealing with a potential Converted incursion, we were dropped off a distance from the target location and had to approach on foot (to prevent the subversion of the transport and any escape out of the cordon area).

We knew we had the right place when a command node stepped out of the control building and started firing.

The body is from the Scavengers set, the shotgun arms from the Crew set and the head from the Automata set.

The figure was undercoated with Citadel Mechanicus Standard Grey.

The greatcoat is Citadel Dryad Bark, the webbing is Citadel Steel Legion Drab.

The skin is Army Painter Spaceship Exterior.

The metalwork is Vallejo Black Grey except the face plate which is Citadel Stone Golem.

Scarlett and Browne, a very British Post-Apocalypse

 Jonathan Stroud (also the author of Lockwood and Co - made into a single season on Netflix) has just completed a British Post-Apocalypse trilogy.

After an undefined Great Cataclysm, Britain is divided into seven Kingdoms. Most of the people live in the highly regulated Surviving Towns, under the watchful eye of the Faith Houses who ensure orthodoxy, both behavoral and genetic.


The map of Britain is both familiar and different. Between the Surviving Towns are the wilds, infested with a whole range of nasty and deadly fauna, including The Tainted (think Rage Infected).

Scarlett McCain is a young robber, who specialises in robbing banks, and occasionally Faith Houses. She is deadly accurate with a revolver and has no hesitation in using it.

Her life changes after she finds a crashed bus with a single survivor, a teenaged boy.

The figure is from the Gunfighters II by Great Escape Games with a Stargrave head.

I still have to find a suitable figure for Albert Browne. I am hoping the Wargames Atlantic Male Survivors set will provide something suitable.

A Faith House Operative (book two).

The body is from the Great Escape Games' Dead Man's Hand Gunfighters set, the arms are from the Frostgrave Wizards set and the head is from the Stargrave Crew set.

The bowler hat seems to be the official headgear, occasionally colour coded for your convenience.

Operation Benevolent Prospector - Pastrian Yaygr

Pastria is a small colonial empire, whose holdings are in the polar regions of the world of Plan Red Reiver. They are a member of both the Continental Union and the Oceanic Alliance. Their expertise in polar warfare means they provide both training and training sites for the cold weather contingents of other Oceanic Alliance members.

Their special forces units are called Yaygrs and are specially equipped to live and fight in extreme cold weather.

The figure was built from an Empress US Ranger. Unfortunately at Salute Empress did not have the French NVG helmets I was after, so this figure has removed his helmet showing the insulated hood worn under the helmet. This is a Crooked Dice balaclava head.

A scarf was added round the neck,and the shoulder ws tidied up.

At the back a poncho/shelter was added under the rucksack. I wonder if I should have converted the supplied tomahawk into an ice axe?

The figure was undercoated with Citadel Corax White spray.

The magazine, barrel and the blade of the tomahawk was Vallejo Black Grey.The gloves, straps, tomahawk handle, pistol holster and the furniture was Vallejo London Grey. Highlighting was with a mix of Army Painter Stone Golem and London Grey.

When Nightmares Come - Tortured Souls

 At Salute this year I bought a box of Wargames Atlantic  Zombies. As I said earlier, I was not impressed by them but thought about using them as some ghostly entities.

So here I present some Tortured Souls.

Simple paint job - undercoat of Citadel Corax White, base Vallejo Flat Earth. Body Citadel Aethermatic Blue Contrast paint.
