Deus Vult - Foot Sergeants and Medieval Archers

Fireforge Games have a range of Medieval period figures, and sets of rules to play with them. However they are also suitable for use as human forces in Oathmark (plus they are very reasonably priced).

Foot Sergeants

The Fire Forge Foot Sergeants can build 48 figures

The boxed set contains six hard plastic frames, each has eight different bodies. There is no flash, and only occasional mould lines (the heads do seem to have a bit, see photograph below). There are also sufficient 20x20mm plastic bases.
There are six spear arms, six hand weapon arms, eight shield arms and shields (there are four different shield types). There are also four crossbows. There are ten heads, with different headgear.
This is the first Spearman assembled, I do need to remove that mould line on the helmet.
I am using 25mm round bases so I can use them in Frostgrave, I have some Renedra sabot bases to use figures based this way with Oathmark.

Medieval Archers

The Fireforge Medieval Archers box set builds 24 figures.

The boxed set contains three hard plastic frames, each has eight different bodies. There is no flash, and only occasional mould lines.
Each sprue has eight bodies, 13 heads, eight pairs of bow arms and four swords. There are also sufficient 20x20mm plastic bases.
An assembled archer.

The figures and sprues

One thing that is noticeable is that the archers set has four crossbow quarrel packs. This is because the Foot Sergeant and Archers sprues have common bodies.

This is an advantage, as it adds more common body types and you can mix and match the bodies to match your armies style. Each sprue has four different body styles: two kinds of ribbed/padded armour, one cloth over mail and one with diamond shaped overlapping pieces (see the spearman above).

Size comparison

The figure appear of a reasonable match with Oathmark and the Fireforge Forgotten World Northmen.
Fireforge Foot Sergeant, Fireforge Northman, Fireforge Medieval Archer and Oathmark Human Infantry.

I do not have any of the Perry figures to hand to compare their size to these figures.

Now I am just waiting for North Star to deliver the Renedra bases so I can start assembling my starter army.
