Not every follower of some charismatic leader or deluded prophet is willing to risk all in their underwear, sometimes they have access to the arms and armour of higher quality. Whether looted from some battlefield, stolen from a tomb or from their past lives, some cultists have the weapons of knightly grade, even if their behaviour is not so chivalrous.
Standard small thickness Frostgrave Box containing two identical figure sprues and associated round bases. The Frostgrave Cultists III set from North Star contains multi part multi pose plastic figures, lightly armoured (if they have armour). They are suitable for general cult rabble as well as miscreants for SF games.
This one will be part of a Militia unit for my Necromancer's army.
As I was looking for the Anvil Industries' Brodie Helmets for the Heavy Infantry, I found some other Anvil heads, the Sallet ones.
The neck sockets need opening up to take the Anvil necks. The sallet heads do suit the Frostgrave figures more than the Fireforge ones.
At Colours I picked up the (at the time) new Medieval Foot Sergeants set from Victrix.
Though historical figures, they will probably do double duty as a human faction for Oathmark as well as for Barons War and Lion Rampant.
As has been the case for a while, the set comes in a bag not a box, but does include an assembly guide.
The figures are wearing gambesons, quilted or padded armour in the form of jackets, some of which is worn over mail. This is typical of well equipped foot soldiers not of nobility.
The set builds 32 figures, there are sufficient polearms, hand weapons and (by utilising standard bearer arms) spears to equip all figures with similar weaponry.
For Oathmark, these will be built with hand weapons and spears (polearms/two handed weapons are not available to non Warrior/Knight types).
Polearm and two handed weapon sprue.
The latest addition to the North Star range of plastic figures for Frostgrave is Cultists III. This adds another selection of cultist figures, lighter armoured than Cultists I and Cultists II.
Standard North Star box (though it feels a bit more flimsy).Without the chainsaw, these are going to supply some lighter troops for my Necromancer's army, and possibly some melee troops for my Converted one as well.
At Salute this year I bought a box of Wargames Atlantic Zombies. As I said earlier, I was not impressed by them but thought about using them as some ghostly entities.
So here I present some Tortured Souls.
Simple paint job - undercoat of Citadel Corax White, base Vallejo Flat Earth. Body Citadel Aethermatic Blue Contrast paint.North Star have just released their Elf Heavy Infantry for Oathmark.
The sprue does not contain enough swords or axes (one or two handed) to build five axe or five sword, you will need to combine parts from separate sprues.
Guards of Traitor's Toll is a new Skirmish level adventure game from Grey for Now.
It is a semi-cooperative game where players control squads of city guards as they patrol the city. They have to apprehend miscreants of various stripes, ensure the citizens do not get to rebellious and deal with sinister plots against the city.Wargames Atlantic have recently released a 30 figure box set of Zombies. I bought a box on offer at Salute.
They come in a standard Wargames Atlantic box containing five sprues, each building six different zombies for a total of 30.
