Warbases' MOD Hut

This is a Warbases' MOD Hut C. It might be a bit late for Flat Caps and Truncheons, having a more 1930's feel.
Like previous builds, the interior was sprayed with Colour Forge Ghoul Grey.
The windows and doors were masked up and the exterior sprayed with Plastikote Rust effect paint.
This was then covered with Army Painter Fur Brown.
The brick work was painted with mixtures of various greys, Army Painter Chaotic Red, black and Army Painter Fur Brown.
The brickwork was washed with Citdel Agrax Earthshade.
The roof was sprayed with Colour Forge Ghoul Grey and a misting of Citadel Chaos Black.
The doors and windows were sprayed with Army Painter Angel Green
This building has doors at both ends.

It has windows only on one of the long sides.

When Nightmares Come - Tortured Souls

At Salute this year I bought a box of Wargames Atlantic  Zombies. As I said earlier, I was not impressed by them but thought about using them as some ghostly entities.

So here I present some Tortured Souls.

Simple paint job - undercoat of Citadel Corax White, base Vallejo Flat Earth. Body Citadel Aethermatic Blue Contrast paint.

Small Concrete Store - Warbases

At Warfare 2024 I bought a number of Warbases' World War 2 buildings. One of them was the small concrete shed. The plan was to use them for Modern and When Nightmares Come games.

Something in the shed is attracting the attention of some vermin.
By design, the roof appears just to rest on the top of the building. Unlike many of Warbases' buildings, the floor does not have a step, it rests within the building (which lead to a mistake in construction). This, and my idea to place the building on a scenic base gave me the idea that I could use the "floor" as a plug within the building to hold the roof securely. So it was glued centrally to the roof piece.

Having assembled the building, I realised I had put the wall with the door on upside down, there should just be one concrete plank at the base of the door.
However it did lead to an idea for the buildings function, to contain a pump system. To prevent the ingress of flood water, there is a double raised lip, and the lower concrete planks are sealed with bitumen paint. Fuel is supplied in drums, but he suppliers are a bit lax in removing the empties, so they get left outside.
The door and window are still to be decided

When Nightmares Come - to Pike's Office

At Warfare 2024 I bought a number of buildings from Warbases' World War Two range, one of which was Pike's Office. The buildings will be used as an industrial estate for When Nightmares Come.

A Terror checks out the new property.

The building is fairly simple.
The roof (bottom right) will rest on the interior wall panels that provide the window frames and the door.
The interior wall panels (right).
Assembly is straightforward. Remove the base and the four walls from the "sprue" (there are connecting tabs holding the pieces to the "sprue", cut them carefully with a scalpel). Clean up the edges.

I have a glass plate I use for this sort of thing - not sure where it came from but it provides a flat surface that nothing sticks to.

Get some heavy pots to support the walls during drying.

Apply PVA glue to the edges of the base and the tabs on the edges of the walls. Then with your four hands bring the four walls together making sure they are aligned and vertical. Use the heavy pots to support the walls while they dry.

I used white wood filler to fill in any gaps on the walls and smoothed it off with sandpaper.

I used masking tape to mask the window and door spaces and the rooflights. I used masking tape to secure the interior panels in place and then added the roof. This effectively masks the interior of the building.

The whole exterior was then sprayed with Plastikote Rust effect spray to give it some texture.

Once dry, the tape was removed and the whole building (except the roof) including the interior panels was sprayed with TTCombat Skeleton Bone.

When that was dry, the window frames were masked on the inside and Humbrol 163 Dark Green was sprayed for the window frames and door.

The rooflights were glued to the roof and a Debris of War bin bag was added. The whole roof given a coat of Citadel Chaos Black spray.

The brick line was painted with Army Painter Fur Brown.
Now it is awaiting weathering and the brick detailing.

When Nightmares Come and turn the world Upside Down - mass horror

In When Nightmares Come there are four levels of horror - three minion level and one boss type.

Vermin - dangerous to inexperienced Hunters, uses numbers to wear Hunters down.

Horde - more dangerous, but as Hunters gain experience (and upgraded toys) they become less of a threat.

Terror - Dangerous, encountered as Hunters get closer to the centre of the mystery

Atrocity - The Big Boss.

So I have completed two Terrors, two Hordes and three Vermin (left to right).

Kate is really not having a good time.

When Nightmares Come and turn the world Upside Down - Terror

These is the penultimate level of Dark Spawn - Terror.

They are more dangerous than Horde, but hopefully the Hunters have gained sufficient experience (and super-shiny toys) to face them.
These are Crooked Dice Creepers 1, two to a pack, each one comprising one body and one head (you can swap the heads between the bodies to produce four different figures).
Once assembled on Renedra 40mm circular bases, half a Zinge Industries Engineering brick was glued to the base and Woodland Scenics fine cinder ballast was applied using PVA.
The figure was first undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black, then the base painted with Vallejo Flat Earth.
Citadel Rarkath Flesh was applied for the skin, with the mouth being Citadel Mephiston Red.
On the figure with the open mouth, the mouth area was dry brushed with Citadel Terminatus Stone.
The skin is then washed with Citadel Carronburg Crimson (including the mouth).
