Marauders - Under Fire Miniatures

Four Marauders for Twilight 2000.
They are the Rhodesian SAS by Under Fire Miniatures.

The four miniatures were undercoated with Citadel Chaos Black. The figure was then sprayed with PSC British Khaki.

The wooly hat was painted with Citadel Caliban Green.

The camouflage pattern was built up with Citadel Castellan Green, Citadel Dryad Bark and Citadel Zandri Dust.

The rucksack is Citadel Castellan Green and the boots Citadel Mournfang Brown.

The uniform was washed with Citadel Athonian Camoshade.

Marauder one - Under Fire Miniatures

This is the first of the finished Under Fire Miniatures Rhodesian SAS.

Marauders - Under Fire Miniatures

As mentioned earlier, I ordered some more Under Fire Miniatures last year.

In addition to the Bundeswehr and Soviets, I also ordered a pack of their Rhodesian SAS.

This is how they were supplied, with a Kepi like hat and armed with AK-47, RPD, FN-FAL and RPD. They also come with two optional back packs.

So, the plan is to use them as Marauders for Twilight 2000, with light kit and a mixture of weapons. Now, as it is a lot colder on that timeline, they needed more suitable headgear. In this case, the Empress Miniatures heads with wooly hats.

The heads were sawn off using a razor saw. The neck stump was first drilled with a 1mm drill to make a pilot hole. This was then widened with a 1.5mm drill. The final hole was made using a 3mm drill (which is close to the neck diameter of the Empress heads).

The heads were superglued in place. The backpacks were drilled and a matching 1mm hole and 1mm plastic peg added to the body. This was then used to provide a good fixture between the body and backpack.

Under Fire Miniatures Cold War Range - part two

So having painted the previous order of Bundeswehr and Soviet figures, I ordered the next batch from Under Fire Miniatures.

Pack RMR1 - Platoon command, comprising sniper with SVD, Radio Operator, Platoon Commander and grenadier with BG-15 underslung grenade launcher attached to his AK-74.

Pack RMR-3 Light support, comprising two with AK-74 and two with RPK clip fed light support weapons.

Pack RMR-4 with three AK-74 and one RPG-7.

Bund-2 Platoon command, Radio operator, Leutnant,Medic and Marksman with 'scoped G3.

Bund-3, Support, comprising Panzerfaust 44, MG3, slung Armbrust and firing Armbrust.

The last pack I ordered was the Rhodesian SAS RhSAS1. This has two RPD Light Support Weapons, one SLR and an AK-47.

They will probably get new heads and be used as miscellaneous troops. The packs will come in useful as well.

Under Fire Miniatures Cold War Bundeswehr Infantry - first four figures

This is the first set of Under Fire Cold War Bundeswehr figures completed.

These are four Bundeswehr troops armed with G3 rifles.

The figures were undercoated black with Citadel Chaos Black followed by PSC German Field Grey.

The webbing and packs are Vallejo USA Olive Drab.

The figures were dry brushed with Citadel Dry Nurgling Green.

The figures were then shaded with Citadel Athonian Camoshade (it came out a bit shiny so I used some Humbrol 49 acrylic varnish).

German Telephone Box - the model

As mentioned in the previous post, I had been looking at using a Blotz Phone Box #1  as a West German telephone box. You need to download the instructions from the Blotz site, but as you can see, the model is very simple.

I initially assembled it with the roof, interior and door separate. I undercoated it with Halfords Grey Spray Primer. The plan was then to underoat the main body, roof and door with white spray followed by a yellow spray. Unfortunately I had run out of white, and the two cans of yellow had dumped their gas over the years since I bought them. So it was out with the brush.

The box from the previous post was identified as a TelH78 box. It has a rounded roof and round cornered windows. The roof piece was glued in place (having checked I could get the interior in and out) and sanded to shape. In the photograph they look rather rough, I might have a go at sanding them again. When I have another go at one of these, I will use Milliput to get a better curve.

There was nothing I could do to change the window shape, though I might ask Blotz if they want to do Telephone Boxes of the World.

A couple of Soviet Troops (Underfire with Empress head and an Empress Chechen Russian) for scale with a Sarissa Small Terraced House.

A simple piece of street furniture that gives a time and place (okay early 'eighties Germany onward).

Under Fire Miniatures Cold War Soviet Infantry - first four figures

This is the first Under Fire Cold War Soviet figure completed.

As mentioned previously, these figures are being painted up for Twilight 2000 skirmish games, so have had a few modifications - such as the boots and trousers.

The uniform is spray painted with PSC British tank Green. The figure was dry brushed with Citadel Nurgling Green. The helmet is Vallejo German Extra Dark Green. Camouflage spots are Citadel Zandri Dust.

A rifleman armed with an AK-74.

He has had an additional bag added from Greenstuff.

Some additional firepower in the form of a belt fed PKM machine-gun.

And more firepower, another PKM machine-gun.

He has had a grey blanket added, maybe he gets cold.

 And a shot of the four figures.

Now to order some more so I have a complete section.
