This is a Warbases' MOD Hut C. It might be a bit late for Flat Caps and Truncheons, having a more 1930's feel.

Like previous builds, the interior was sprayed with Colour Forge Ghoul Grey.
The windows and doors were masked up and the exterior sprayed with Plastikote Rust effect paint.
This was then covered with Army Painter Fur Brown.
The brick work was painted with mixtures of various greys, Army Painter Chaotic Red, black and Army Painter Fur Brown.

The brickwork was washed with Citdel Agrax Earthshade.
The roof was sprayed with Colour Forge Ghoul Grey and a misting of Citadel Chaos Black.
The doors and windows were sprayed with Army Painter Angel Green

This building has doors at both ends.

It has windows only on one of the long sides.

Warbases Brick Store Room

Birmingham's finest investigate claims heavily armed miscreants are in the factory.

They check round the Brick Store Room.

The Warbases' Brick Store Room is a simple kit.

Once assembled, the interior was sprayed with Colour Forge Ghoul Grey.

The window sills were painted with Vallejo London Grey.
The doors and windows were sprayed with Army Painter Angel Green

Flat roof workshop

 One of Birmingham's police officers checks out a flat roofed workshop.

The interior was sprayed with Citadel Mechanicum Standard Grey.

The windows and doors were masked up and the exterior sprayed with Plastikote Rust effect paint.

This was then covered with Army Painter Fur Brown.

The brick work was painted with mixtures of various greys, Army Painter Chaotic Red, black and Army Painter Fur Brown.

The doors and windows were sprayed with Citadel Macragge Blue.

Small Concrete Store - Warbases

 At Warfare 2024 I bought a number of Warbases' World War 2 buildings. One of them was the small concrete shed. The plan was to use them for Modern and When Nightmares Come games.

Something in the shed is attracting the attention of some vermin.

By design, the roof appears just to rest on the top of the building. Unlike many of Warbases' buildings, the floor does not have a step, it rests within the building (which lead to a mistake in construction). This, and my idea to place the building on a scenic base gave me the idea that I could use the "floor" as a plug within the building to hold the roof securely. So it was glued centrally to the roof piece.

Having assembled the building, I realised I had put the wall with the door on upside down, there should just be one concrete plank at the base of the door.

However it did lead to an idea for the buildings function, to contain a pump system. To prevent the ingress of flood water, there is a double raised lip, and the lower concrete planks are sealed with bitumen paint. Fuel is supplied in drums, but he suppliers are a bit lax in removing the empties, so they get left outside.

Empress FT tank scale comparison

 I built one of the Empress FT tanks back in 2017 (and a Carden Loyd Carrier). The tank is not currently on the Empress site. I think it is 1/55 scale.

Though there is a scale photograph with the unfinished mode, there is not one of the finished model.

It is a really diminutive tank (and the garden Loyd is even smaller).

Mark Copplestone (I am surprised I have so few models tagged as sculpted by him) has been working on a range of Neo-Retro Wargaming and Pseudo-Nostalgia figures scaled at about 30mm.

They are fictional InterWar period figures with a distinct "toy soldier" look to them.

Salute 2021 - Rubicon purchases

 There was (excepting the Semovente) a bit of a theme on my Rubicon purchases

I also bought the other Valentine kit but it was in a different bag so did not get photographed.

I did forget to buy the Sherman V, maybe at the next show.

Empress NHS Charity Nurse

 Empress released a figure sculpted by Paul Hicks in aid of charity.

There are details on the origin of the figure here.

The helmet is Humbrol 30 Dark Green acrylic, uniform is Vallejo English Uniform. The webbing and puttees are Citadel Snot Womble green highlighted with Citadel Nurgling green. The bag and its strap is Citadel Deathworld Forest.

The uniform was highlighted with a mix of Vallejo Old Wood and English uniform.

The mug was base coated with Army painter Stone Golem then highlighted with Humbrol 34 acrylic White.

The figure was dry brushed with Citadel Terminatus Stone and washed with Citadel Agrax Earthshade. the helmet was washed with Citadel Athonian Camoshade.

I was tempted to wash the body with Citadel Athonian Camoshade because canadian uniforms are known to have a greener shade than British uniforms, but decided to leave it as the other British figures I have painted.

Reconnaissance

At Salute in 2019 I bought a number of packs of Empress Miniatures' Late War British and German.

I have just based them, and I am beginning to paint them.

So what am I going to do with them?

Last year at Campaign, I bought The Zone. Although it is a Retro-Ultramodern set of rules, it should be perfectly adequate for WW2 skirmish.

So then I needed something for them to fight over.

So out with my trusty DBA board (24" x 24") and pieces from the Warlord Games Ruined Hamlet and their wall set.

So this is the battlefield. I might add some trees and other cover.

Of course, having assembled this on the DBA board, I also thought it would work for The Walking Dead: All Out War (WW2:AOW).

Now just have finish the painting.

BA-3 Heavy Armoured Car by Rubicon

At Warfare in 2019 I bought a number of Rubicon kits, including the recently released BA-3 heavy armoured Car. It is referred to as a "Heavy" armoured car due to its weight rather than due to it being heavily armoured. It does however pack the same turret and gun as the contemporary Soviet T26 light tank.

The kit comes in the traditional Rubicon box.

The kit contains a slide mould body (which eliminates the need for a lot of  assemble of the vehicle body). There is a set of decals including those in use by Finnish and Axis forces.

There is also one sprue that contains the rest of the kit.

I assembled the kit according to the instructions, going for the BA-3 rather than the later BA-6 version.

Most of the assembly used Tamiya extra thin liquid poly (which can just about melt the ABS used by Rubicon) though I did tack pieces together in a few places using Humbrol liquid poly and then add the Tamiya extra thin to make the joint permanent (there is enough polystyrene in the liquid poly to make the surfaces "sticky").

The kit went together well, I did have some problems getting the hull machine gun in place (I drilled out the mounting hole to make it easier).

I undercoated the model with Citadel Chaos Black spray. Unfortunately I had run out of the Humbrol 30 Dark Green spray I normally use for my Soviet vehicles, so ended up brush painting it with Humbrol 30 Acrylic Dark Green.

The Sarissa Russian hut provides some background, while a Bad Squiddo female Soviet soldier provides some scale.
