Cactus Patch

 Having bought Dead Man's Hand, and previously Wild West Exodus, I needed some scenery.

At SELWG, I bought another pack of Dead Man's Hand Cacti and some Products For Wargamers MDF scatter terrain bases.

The edges ofmthe base were filed to a slope.

Some rocks were sculpted using Milliput and the bases removed from the cacti with a razor saw.

A mixture of granite ballast and Woodland Scenics fine Cinder Ballast was applied over PVA glue to texture the base. This was undercoated first with Halfords Grey Primer, then Citadel Zandri Dust spray.

The cacti were painted Army Painter Army Green, dry brushed with Citadel Nurgle Green and shaded with Citadel Coelian Greenshade. They were then dry brushed again with Citadel Nurgle Green and lightly with Citadel Terminatus Stone.

The base was then dry brushed with Citadel Terminatus Stone.

Gamer's Grass tufts were added to break up the open space.

More Scenery For WWX

So a couple of pieces of scenery for Western gaming Wild West Exodus in particular.

The first is a couple of Cacti from the TTCombat Western Accessories pack.

They are on a laser cut Products For Wargamers  Scatter Terrain MDF base (the edges of which were filed to a slope).  Woodland Scenics fine ballast over PVA plus two left over bits of Greenstuff for rocks.

Another piece of terrain, this time a rock cube - natural or manufactured for nefarious motives - you decide.

Games Workshop 60mm flat base with a cube of plastic card covered with Milliput.

It offers some hard cover on the battlefield.

William was convinced that the cacti had not been there when he had parked last night.

Four Great Escape Games Dead Man's Hand Cacti box in an Empress Technical.

The cacti are supplied five to a pack on 25mm diameter integral bases about twice the thickness of a Renedra 25mm plastic base. For these four, I removed the bases and glued them to Renedra ones.

The cacti were sprayed with Humbrol Matt Light Olive 86, dry brushed with Vallejo Uniform Green mixed with Vallejo Desrt Yellow.

Base colouring is Vallejo Desert Yellow, washed with Citadel Gryphonne Sepia then dry brushed Humbrol 93 acrylic with a final dry brush of Citadel Dheneb Stone.

Now all I need is some desert terrain to go with them.

In the meantime, here is a comparison shot of the large cacti on its original base and a rebased one.

I might use a 40mm Renedra base for this one.

The containers in the background are the new Ainsty ones.
