It came from the back of the display cabinet...

I was looking for a figure and a scenic item for posts on the Crooked Dice forum, and found these, at the back of the display cabinet.

With all the excitement of 7ombieTV, I had to have a picture of the Hasslefree Ray (or is it Tim?)
Definitely one for a 7ombieTV scenario.

A slightly different scale, a teenage vampire hunter from GZG.
Also from Ground Zero Games, two Hard Suits (that is Power Armour with style - and high heels...).
And finally, Hasslefree's Sadie has ditched the crossbow and stake for a torch and an Ingram MAC with suppressor.
And detail on the scenic feature.

The skull detail is from a Mk7 Womble helmet.

The Cabin In The Woods

With the publication of Crooked Dice's 7ombieTV, I thought I would dig out the Perry Miniatures North American Farmhouse. It has sat, unloved on a shelf in undercoat, for a couple of years.

So, over the Chaos Black undercoat I painted the walls Vallejo Old Wood, washed in a mix of Vallejo black and GW Gryphonne Sepia. The doors and windows are Vallejo Buff with a another black/sepia wash. Chimney basecoated in Vallejo Burnt Umber, with bricks highlighted with various colours and a wash of black. The roof is a mix of reds and browns over a Black Grey base coat.

The kit comes with a selection of fence bits which will need looking at. I also need to build a suitable outhouse and a garage. I am not sure how I am going to make it fit in with the style of the farmhouse.

A variant kit is also available in the form of a replacement for the wall with a chimney that converts the model into a shop. I am going to build it to provide the buildings for other 7ombieTV games.

Who do you think you are?

When the Crooked Dice Scientist figure were released, I assembled a number of them with different combinations of head, body and swapped some hands about. At the same time I was working on a Martin Coach astronaut, using the ARC astronaut with tablet computer and swapping the computer for a Minion pistol.

So I had a Scientist with flask body, a tablet computer hand and a selection of Crooked Dice head.

I removed the flask, pinned the tablet computer in its place and selected the Bouffant Minion head, undercoated and started to paint.

And then I thought, he looks vaguely familiar.

So I changed the paint scheme, and this is the result.

What do you think?

Time for a sharp getaway...

Agents Red and Blue (see posts passim) demonstrate the utility of their Drive SFX as they escape from the evil clutches of The Underlord!

The jeep is a Warlord Games Jeep. While painting it I broke the gear stick, so have replaced it with one made from brass rod. Which I then knocked off again while painting. It is currently sitting on top of a pot of paint awaiting further attention.

Other than that, it went together easily (seven pieces: body, two front wheels, gear stick, brake/4WD, steering wheel and windscreen. There is a canvas top and struts but I am not sure if I will put those on). The most difficult part (aside from the gear stick) was cleaning up the steering wheel. The steering wheel and the windscreen could possibly be better as etched metal, though it would add to the cost.

Nice kit though, there may be more in the future.

Laser cut buildings

There was a query about surface detail on laser cut buildings on the Crooked Dice forum.

The only one I have is a (unfinished) 40mm building, laser cut MDF with a laser cut plastic detail skin:
The building is easy to construct, the slot and tab construction makes a square and rigid structure very quickly. Getting the overlay flat slightly defeated me, the corners are not quite flat.
The building was given an overall spray of Halfords grey primer followed (after masking the windows and door) with a spray of Halfords red primer.

The kit comes with laser cut plastic doors and windows.

And yes, the diagonal scratch on the paint is where I dropped it.

The figure (out of focus) is a 40mm ProjektX power armoured Weird War Two soldier. Here it is in focus:
